Bentley Apartments & Supportive Housing

Bentley Apartments & Supportive Housing

HEA was retained to design the M/E/P and FP systems for two new three-story multi-family buildings that provide a total of 45 units (12 one-bedroom, 22 two-bedroom and 11 three-bedroom) in Great Barrington, MA. The complex also includes community rooms and central laundry facilities. Each building contains supportive housing units that meet criteria to accommodate persons who are deaf or hard of hearing.

HEA’s mechanical design included all HVAC and exhaust systems for each of the buildings. The laundry facility included a dedicated clothes dryer exhaust system and make-up air for ventilation. Electrical work included coordinating each building’s electric service with the local utility as well as design of power distribution, interior and exterior lighting, and fire alarm systems. Plumbing work included sizing and locating each building’s potable water and natural gas services as well as designing all potable water, water heating, natural gas and DWV plumbing systems for all areas (including the central laundry facilities).
