Colocation Data Center

Colocation Data Center

For a number of years, HEA has provided “on-call” consulting and engineering services to a consortium of member companies providing high-end data services and internet connectivity. Projects have included cooling improvements, equipment procurement, and various other M/E/P consulting and engineering assignments.

HEA’s most notable project was the design a new 5,200-sf colocation facility. The data center features redundant capacity components and multiple independent distribution paths. After calculating the power and cooling requirements for both present and anticipated future needs, HEA’s engineers sized and specified new electrical and mechanical equipment for the center and designed redundant power systems to ensure stringent uptime requirements were met.

The data center includes:

  • Hot aisle containment design in an N+1 configuration.
  • Two pods containing a total of 40 racks.
  • Four computer room air conditioners (CRACs) serving each pod.
  • In-rack containment system with redistributed condenser water.
  • A scalable N+1 UPS unit located in a separate power room.
  • New PDU equipment.
  • Redundant power systems.
  • Full monitoring capabilities.
  • LED lighting.
  • Dedicated fire suppression system.
  • Multiple fiber loops.
